The Victorian Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby

The Victorian Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby works for and with the whole gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) community to end discrimination and to achieve equality and social justice.

Gay Sex convictions to be expunged

Rights groups welcome Victoria’s moves to erase historic gay sex convictions.

Lobby Co-Convener Corey Irlam said this was another step in the long journey to equality for gay and lesbian Australians.

“It’s unjust and unfair that these men continue to be treated as criminals 30 years after same sex relations between men were decriminalised. I call on all parties to throw their support behind this important reform to ensure its successful passage this year,” said Mr Irlam.
